So, what is Neuro-Linguistic Programming?

It might sound a bit of a mouthful, but Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is essentially a powerful tool used to improve your life, sharpen your focus and shape your future.

Although popular with business professionals, NLP is for everyone and can apply to every walk of life imaginable.

What can it do for you

As an NLP trainer I am often asked what taking part on an NLP course will do for people. My answer is often different but really the message is the courses will open opportunities so you are free to do whatever you want to do, whether that’s becoming the most amazing practitioner, the best baker or running the best international bank. The journey starts now by you spending the time to read this post.

NLP is based on the study of human performance in which the methods of very effective people are studied. From there techniques were developed that can be presented in workshops. So effectively in a few days you can learn what may have taken others years to discover in a trial and error manner. NLP can treat problems such as phobias, depression, habit disorder and depression as well as building skills for business and life.

One of NLP’s creators John Grinder summed NLP up very well when he said: ‘There are people who are recognized as being particularly adept in their performance. NLP is the bridge between being jealous of these people and admiring them… it gives a third way … a set of strategies to unconsciously assimilate precisely the differences that make the difference between this genius and an average performer…. It is an accelerated learning strategy, a mapping of tacit to explicit knowledge … a program that allows you to explore one extreme of human behaviour – namely excellence.’

Philosophy as old as Aristotle

Although the language might sound new, the philosophy behind NLP is ancient. Famous Greek philosopher Aristotle famously wrote that ‘Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom’ – which is a great quote to keep in mind when embarking on your journey with NLP.

So in conclusion NLP is for everyone and can be a defining moment in your life, whether you are a sportsman, a top CEO or a stay at home mum.
